BE PART OF THE CHOIR

Lloyd's Choir has some 75 members, of which about 60 are regular, active members.

If you are a singer – or used to be – come along to a rehearsal and try us out. We are actively recruiting for all parts, but particularly Altos, Tenors and Basses.

With members drawn largely, though not exclusively, from the financial, insurance and banking communities within the City, we rehearse on Monday lunchtimes from 1.05 pm to 2.15 pm with a hybrid location of St Katharine Cree church, Leadenhall Street, EC3 and Zoom, with extra rehearsals usually being arranged immediately before a concert. With such a short rehearsal period our rehearsals are focused and concentrated, working through a wide range of music in a fairly short period of time. Good sight reading skills are therefore welcomed, although new members with rusty sight reading ability will be given help and encouragement to develop such skills as necessary.

Our subscription rate is £240 pa or £80 per term (of which there are four a year), and concessionary rates are available (usually £180 pa, £60 per term for concessions, but can be reduced further or waived to prevent cost being a barrier to someone being able to sing with us). This fee covers virtually all our music together with the professional fees for our music director and accompanist. It also includes access to the John Fletcher rehearsal files website (https://johnfletchermusic.org/ - a fantastic resource!) .

We do not hold formal auditions but offer new members a trial period during which they may be asked to complete some simple vocal exercises.

We also take every opportunity to socialise together on a regular basis outside rehearsals!

We are committed to accessibility, inclusivity and diversity. Like all clubs and societies that are associated with Lloyd's of London and use the Lloyd's name, we follow the Lloyd's of London code of conduct for its clubs and societies. We are not a church choir, and therefore members of all faiths or none are very welcome. However, please note that our rehearsal space is St Katharine Cree which is a working Christian church, and a great deal of our repertoire is based on Christian liturgy. We will always do our best to accommodate members who are differently-abled. For example, those who are less able to stand are welcome to sit during rehearsals and concerts. Access to the John Fletcher rehearsal files website is provided to all members, which can help those with hearing or visual impairment learn their parts. If you would like to join us and need an accessibility requirement to be accommodated, please contact us at enquiries@lloydschoir.com and we will be do our utmost to assist.
